Chris Harry: Give me an example of something Bill Belichick could share with you.[Hats off to Chris Brown of Smart Football for alerting us to this interview!]
Urban Meyer: Where do I start? I am amazed at the how he handles elite athletes. You never hear about issues with off-the-field stuff. I am amazed to the point that I got on a plane and I went up and watched over three days and saw how he handled these elite guys. For some reason, the Patriots do this, but you hear about the Cowboys and these other teams just falling apart because of chemistry issues. And then there's Bill Belichick. Our whole program is based on what we learned from him; the core of the team has to be strong.

The core of the team has to be strong. Good advice.
ReplyDeleteTim Tebow stands up after a loss and tells the world he won't let it happen again.
He backs up his words with action.
They win the national championship.
Mike Robinson comes on the scene and tells his guys we are gonna win. He backs up his mouth with a big play in the clutch. All of a sudden they start believing.
I remember when Mike Cerimele and Kevin Thompson started pointed fingers and blaming every one but themselves. Penn State followed that by going into a black hole.
Leadership and hard work are a necessary component of winning football. Spelled POZ.
One has to wonder where the leadership is going to come from this year.

ReplyDeleteGreat point, Bob. Mike Cerimele was absolutely shameful as a captain during the disaster that was the 2000 season.
Michael Robinson willed the 2005 squad to the Big Ten title and within one stolen second of an undefeated season. If one ever doubts the importance of leadership they need to look no further than MRob.
