Baublitz plays both tight end and linebacker in high school and has merit as a prospect on both sides of the ball. He is a pretty well-rounded tight end and could project to that position in college.Baublitz (6-4, 255, Central York High School) was also offered by Boston College, Clemson, UConn, Florida State, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Pitt, Rutgers, Stanford, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
On defensive we don't see him projecting as a linebacker, but do see promise at defensive end. We would imagine he would grow out of the linebacker position soon and has good size for the end spot. He is a physical kid and flashes the ability to be active with his hands. He will need to adjust to engaging blockers sooner and being more consistent and active with his hands.
Displays good lateral ability to side-step blocks. Displays a good feel for the game. Takes solid angles in pursuit and closes on the ball carrier well. He is a physical tackler. He really gets some space to read and react as a linebacker in high school so there may be a little adjustment time needed at the end spot, but the tools seem to be there to make the move.
Depending on needs Baublitz could play on either side of the ball. Tight end may be the safer choice, but defensive end presents more upside in our opinion.
