The Penn State Majorettes - the "Touch of Blue", a proud part of the Blue Bland, recently enjoyed tremendous success at the USA and World Twirling Championships, highlighted by their eighth straight National Title. The competition was held at Notre Dame University from July 21-24.

The squad received first place in a number of competitions, including College Half Time and Collegiate Dance Twirl. They also received the "WOW Award" for the most Entertaining Halftime Show.

The week saw the Nittany Lion squad compete against four other university majorette lines: the University of Florida Gatorettes, the Purdue University Twirling Line, the University of Arizona Twirling Line, and the North Carolina State University Twirlers.

"I am so proud of theses ladies and their accomplishments," said coach Heather Bean. "They have worked very hard since January to prepare for this week long competition. I received so many compliments on their performances, professionalism and school spirit. It truly was an amazing week for Penn State, the Blue Band, and these fine ladies!"
