The vote was 15-13 (with three members absent) on Friday morning to retain the status quo regarding football playoffs. That format was recommended to the Board by the PIAA's Strategic Planning Committee, comprised entirely of district representatives. Virtually all of the 15 members voting in favor of the status quo were district committee members.

Curiously, the initial vote appeared to be 18-10 in favor of the status quo. But as PIAA executive director Brad Cashman and Board president Rod Stone asked board members to hold up their hands for those opposed, more hands popped up.
