Dan Krupinsky's conversation with Penn State QB Daryll Clark

It's been a busy week for me (mid-week road volleyball matches make things a little rough!), but I did get to sit down briefly and chat with Daryll Clark for the ComRadio pregame show, which starts Saturday at 11:00 AM Eastern. Below are my notes from the interview...

  • Daryll called last weekend a “statement game” for the team itself, showing how they can bounce back from a “devastating” loss the week before.
  • He said the offense didn’t put as many points on the board in the first half last week as they would’ve liked, but they saw things that they knew the offense was clicking and they were gonna be able to score.
  • When I asked him if the quarterback runs were going to become a more consistent part of the offense, he said that his running is going to come on a play it by the ear basis. He’s not afraid to run, and never has been, but it’s all about the game plan and flow of the game.
  • Daryll talked about Sean Lee's absense and how he's carrying himself. He said Sean is doing everything that a coach would do, and doing it with the pads on. His presence is just as strong when he’s on the sideline as it is when he’s on the field. He’s motivating and coaching the defense. Daryll said he can’t explain how important Sean is to the team. He said it would be a “treasure” when they get him back.
  • As far at this weekends opponent, Daryll said (as you would expect) that you can never sell a team short and can never take another team for granted. Those guys (Eastern Illinios) have nothing to lose. The players have no control over who they play, it’s their responsibility to study that weeks opponent and come out prepared every week. He mentioned Jake Christiansen and the things he can do at the QB position. Daryll also said that all 11 guys on defense fly to the football, play with a lot of passion and pride. They’re not going to lie down.
You can hear the entire interview with Daryll on the ComRadio pregame show, which starts Saturday at 11:00 am.

ComRadio will provide play-by-play coverage of the game as well, with Shane Guzowski and Mike Garvin on the call.
