Penn State QB Daryll Clark talks football and crazy weather with Dan Krupinsky

Well, the strange mix of warmth, sun, and snow has been a topic all over State College this past week, and it was no different when I talked to Daryll Clark for my weekly interview with him for the ComRadio pregame show, which starts Saturday at 2:00 PM Eastern.

Below are my notes from the interview...

  • Daryll and I can’t get over the ridiculous weather in State College. It’s absolutely insane. At the time of the interview last week, it was snowing. This week, Daryll said he was outside and it was 70 degrees. We can’t figure out what’s going on. Stay tuned next week for Dan and Daryll’s hard hitting weather analysis.
  • Daryll has been impressed with the teams perseverance. Everything isn’t going to go right all the time, and they know that, but they’re confident that eventually they will be able to get the big play and break the game open.
  • Daryll said last week's 4th-and-goal might be Penn State's Defensive Play of the Year. He praised the defense and their play all year, and talked about how it helps an offense knowing they have that working on the other side of the ball.
  • I tried to catch Daryll off-guard by asking him if he knew the last Penn State QB to win in Ann Arbor. He answered Wally Richardson right away. Darn it! I thought I would’ve gotten him on that one.
  • He said that it will mean a lot to Penn State to get a win there, beyond just another win in the 2009 season.
  • Michael Robinson has talked with him about what it’s like to play there, and how they feed off their crowd. But he’s confident that as long as they can execute, and limit penalties and turnovers, they can win the game (I guess that last sentence is fairly obvious though, huh?)
  • Daryll remarked about Michigan’s balance on offense, and also the play of Forcier. Talked about Brandon Graham on the defensive line and the problems he can cause and how Michigan disguises their blitzes more than anyone else in the Big Ten.
  • And once again, we ended the discussion on the topic of weather and decided we need to get out as much as possible and enjoy it while we can.
You can hear the entire interview with Daryll on the ComRadio pregame show, which starts Saturday at 2:30 PM.

ComRadio will provide play-by-play coverage of the game as well, with Brian Tripp and Tom Hannifan on the call.
