Running back Marcus Lattimore from Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes, the No. 10 prospect on the ESPNU 150, will be in State College. Lattimore has already made an official visit to Florida State. He is scheduled to visit Auburn the weekend of Oct. 31 before heading to Penn State the following weekend. One player who will NOT be visiting this weekend is 4-star Juco D-Tackle James Carmon, a Baltimore native whose team has a playoff game tomorrow.
Lattimore says he will also visit Oregon sometime in January, and then select his fifth visit from the trio of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
The 6-foot and 215-pound Lattimore rushed for 2,320 yards during his junior season. He averaged 7.6 yards per carry and had 30 touchdowns.
Lattimore will be joined at Penn State by Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson defensive lineman Mike Thornton. To this point, Thornton says Penn State is the only official visit he has set, but some other schools in the running for trips include Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida, Auburn, LSU, South Carolina, and Alabama.
The 6-2 and 280-pound Thornton, who is being recruited by Kermit Buggs and Larry Johnson, has never been to State College and is looking forward to seeing a different part of the country and a Big Ten school.
