Between 1920 and 2009, Nebraska's record against Big Ten teams is 54-43-4, a win percentage of .615. (This is only games against teams in the Big Ten at the time of the game. For instance, it doesn't include the pre-1993 Penn State-Nebraska games.)

The breakdown is as follows...
  • Home: 30-16-2 (.646)
  • Road: 21-26-2 (.449)
  • Neutral: 3-1-0 (.750)
  • Fiesta Bowl: 0-1 (Lost to Michigan in 1986)
  • Alamo Bowl: 3-0 (Victories against Northwestern, Michigan, and Michigan State between 2000 and 2005)
Against the "modern" Big Ten (that is, since 1993), Nebraska is 8-1, with the only blemish being the 40-7 woodshed beating at Beaver Stadium in 2002.

Now let's look at Penn State's record against Nebraska...
  • State College: Penn State leads 5-1
  • Lincoln: Nebraska leads 4-2
  • Giants Stadium (1983 Kickoff Classic, final score): Nebraska 44 Penn State 6
Overall Penn State leads the series 7-6.

Amazingly, these two national powers have never met in a bowl game...and now they likely never will.
